We had a gorgeous lightning storm roll over Brigham on Saturday night. It ended up starting a nasty fire in Perry, but thankfully it only burned brush.

Missy's email August 25th
Hey Y'all!
Well, the students are rolling in and I think I am going to have to get used to all the cocky freshmen that like to throw anti and bash with us. It's pretty annoying. There were a couple guys who were way excited to get out their bibles and try to prove us wrong. They didn't know their scriptures and so they were humbled pretty fast. I'm not saying that I know my bible really well, but I have been in the south long enough to know how to back up all the common arguments.
I am seeing a whole new side to my comp now that the college kids are here. She figures the only reason they are letting us in is because they think she is pretty. She is pretty and that has happened a couple times, but when she says that after every lesson that is when I roll my eyes.
So, crazy news. I got my trunky papers (aka flight plans home). I don't know if they send a copy home at the same time or if they do it later, but I do think they send a copy home eventually. It's pretty crazy to think about. But, I still have a while yet and I'm not going to be trunky. It seems way early for all that to be happening.
Anyway, I hope y'all have a great week with school starting and all that jazz.
I love ya lots!

My new computer

Hey everybody. I got a new computer. It is a Dell inspiron 1420. It normally costs about 900 dollars, but I got in on clearance for 500. It also came with a free printer (which I don't know what to do with yet) but it is lots of fun. It has a webcam, and I have been having fun playing around with it. I also have Microsoft Home and Student 2007 and Norton 360 on it. I have two more copies of each of those programs, if anyone is interested. I won't be using them. Let me know if you want one.

Missy's August 18th email & travel plans
Hey Y'all!
Well, we had fun last week at the zoo. It was a pretty small zoo, but it had lions and giraffes and active monkeys and so I was pretty happy. This week has been good. It's been a little cooler and rainy. I guess we are in a really bad drought right now. I couldn't tell. There is still water everywhere and it rains every so often. I guess the lakes are low. I have been really grateful for the cooler weather.
School starts this week! Yippee!!! It has been like a ghost town lately and so we haven't been able to find many people. This week we are going to find a ton. We have this new investigator named Dave. I don't know if he will go anywhere, but we do have some interesting conversations.
So, funny story. Last night we were leaving an investigator's apartment (the Brazilian one) and he lives on the second floor with a wood deck/porch thing leading up to his door. Well, when we left Sister Israelsen was walking in front of me when all the sudden she fell. I though she stumbled or something until I got closer and saw that there was a hole in the floor and she was sitting there with her leg though it. When she stepped on a certain board it gave way and because she is so tiny her whole leg all the way up to her hip fell though. After we figured out that nothing was broken and the only damage was some scratches and soon to be serious bruising we had a good laugh. In fact we laughed all the rest of the night and we are still laughing now. I am laughing writing this. Maybe it's one of those "you had to be there" jokes, but it was such a funny sight. Our poor investigator felt really bad and couldn't figure out why we were laughing so much.
Anyways, things are going good, I'm excited for things to speed up again. Today we are going to tour downtown Clemson and go on campus a bit. It should be fun.
I love y'all!

Declaration of Independence & the Tour of Utah Bicycle Race
Steven, Anna, & I spent Friday in SLC with the Jensens. We went to the state capitol building, and then downtown they had a stage of the Tour of Utah. It was really fun watching the riders come around and around the block. They road for 90 minutes and then announced how many laps were left. It was a mad dash to the end. We're already planning on going back next year too.

Missy's August 11th email
Hey Y'all!
I will apologize in advance. This letter will be short because we are having a zone activity at the zoo today and so I don't have much time to email. I am looking forward to it. There isn't a whole lot to do around here.
This past week was good. We had a sister's exchange. All the elders do exchanges and there were never enough sister's to do exchanges and so our new mission president decided to change that and do exchanges anyways. It was fun. It was a two day deal and none of us got very much sleep because we all stayed up way too late talking and fooling around. Sometimes I forget how boring it can be with just one companion.
We have been working hard even though there seems to be nobody around to talk to. I really can't wait until fall semester starts next week. Hopefully this week students should start trickling in and in a couple weeks it will be a hopping place.
Well, I love y'all!

P.S. I do know Elder Rutledge. We are going home the same day.

Boekweg Family Picnic
As the end of summer draw to a close, we are trying to get one last picnic fit in. The Boekweg's are having a family picnic at the same park we had one with Grandpa Dixon and Helen. Our family is suppling the chicken and drinks. If you think you can come let me know. (You know how I love to show off my family. Sorry, its an Oma and Opa thing!) It is planned for September 1st Labor Day, at 11am.
Also we wanted to let you know that Grandpa Dixon is back in the hospital in Provo. He got up in church to bear his testimony and passed out. Not so good. The doctors seem to think it has something to do with his heart. We will keep you posted as we know anything. But if you could remember him in your prayers that is so appreciated! Thank you! We love you all so much.
Love,
Mom and Dad

Hey Y'all!
This week has been hot, but since the month has began we have had more miles and so we have gotten to drive around a lot more. This past week has been kinda slow. College towns are lousy when school is out. The summer semester just ended and fall semester won't start for another two weeks, so basically nobody is here. Bummer!
So, I hear everyone is getting ready for school. That is exciting! I always thought it was fun to get new clothes and figure out where all my classes are and stuff like that. Then when I actually went to school and started getting homework I wasn't excited anymore. That was over 6 years ago. Man, I'm old!
Well, I hope y'all have a wonderful week!
Love ya

Katie's Summer Fun Recital
We had a lot of fun yesterday at the Summer Fun Recital. Everyone did so well, especially Lilli, Emily, Adam, Christopher and Mary Kate! (Unbiased review!)
The grand finale was a mega-fest of every stringed instrument we could round up. Here's the video of "Bile Them Cabbage Down" by The Barefoot Billies, featuring Emily Lou, Adam Jim Bob, Christopher Jim Bob (playing the miniature upright bass), Mary Kate Lou and Katie Lou.
