We were having a discussion yesterday with the girls about how it is safe to sleep with one’s bedroom door open even if one’s bedroom is in the basement, and how it actually may help their room feel less stuffy during the day.
Mary said that she liked to sleep with the door closed because of the “freaky” shadows in her room when she has her rainbow butterfly night-light on, but we still maintained that sleeping with the door open is safe.
I proposed an experiment and said that we would try sleeping with the door open for one night, and if Mary or Millie were eaten by monsters that we would let the remaining child sleep with the doors closed for the rest of her life.
Mary didn’t seem too excited about the idea, but said she would go along with it. Millie also seemed a little reticent about the prospect of one of them being eaten by monsters, but said quietly as she walked away, “I hope it’s Mary.”
We are happy to report that all of our children were present and accounted for this morning.

Hey kids! Try this at home!
What is the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon?
...
MAKE A TENT IN THE LIVING ROOM!!
This is what our apartment looks like from the front door. Cool huh!
From the kitchen. You can see the door that we use to go in and out of the tent.
Another picture of the tent. (We are very proud of it.)
INSIDE the tent! Cool huh! We're hoping to keep this sucker up for at least a week.
