Now that the summer blockbusters are just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to open a forum for movie reviews. Be honest -- if it was crappy, tell us about it.
Please don't limit reviews to new releases. Any and all movie reviews are welcome.
I'll start with Horton Hears a Who.
I'd give Horton three out of four stars. It was a bit tedious toward the end, but maybe that was because I was standing in the back for the last half with a fussy baby and a four-year-old who would rather visit the drinking fountain (and thus the bathroom). Anyway, it was colorful and funny, and the plot stayed pretty close to Dr. Seuss' short story.
I'd see it again, but probably won't buy the DVD.
Okay, your turn.

I had heard that Horton Hears a Who had gotten good reviews. I've been waiting for it to come out on DVD. Is anyone going to the Prince Caspian movie? In the paper today they said that it is better than the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Before I go see it should I read the book first?
Mom, I'd highly recommend reading the book, mainly because it's worth reading in its own right. I also heard that the movie follows the book pretty closely. I'd love to see it, but we'll probably have to wait till it comes out on DVD.
On a slightly different subject, I'd like to recommend 'Penelope' as a good movie to watch on a date night. It is a very sweet movie, and while I think small children might have trouble 'getting it' most older kids would enjoy it.
Is 'Penelope' on DVD yet?
Did anyone see Prince Caspian yet? I heard it's a Lord of the Rings -wanna-be, but wasn't.
If you see it, post yer review.
Okay Em -- still waiting for your review!
Sorry for making you wait, Mary!!
I liked Prince Caspian more than Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe. Granted, there were some hokey parts, like when Susan yells in slow motion, and the old river dude (Heather calls it a water Jesus, but that is blasphemous to me). Overall, I thought it was a great show!
What's blasphemous is that he EATS people!
I saw Prince Caspian with the kids a couple of weeks ago. You're right, Em, some parts were hokey -- like when Susan kisses Prince Caspian (sorry to those of you who haven't seen it yet..) and everyone is watching. Talk about awkward.
Anyway, who's seen Wall-E and Kung Foo Panda? -- did I even spell those right? Yikes! The kids want us to take them to see it, but I think I'd rather wait for the DVD.
Reviews?
I've seen both. Wall-E was good, but different from the other pixar movies. There was very little dialog which resulted in no quoting afterwards, but other than that it was really sweet.
I've also seen Kung Fu Panda. That one was good too. I was laughing pretty hard. What I liked best was that there was no bathroom humor! some parts will make you roll your eyes a bit, but it's funny and exciting. I'd see it again.
This is Robert. I so wanted to like Wall-E (after all, it's Pixar), but just thought that it was okay. It was a lot of fun, but seemed like it was trying to work on a different level. The kids all liked it though. Maybe I just need to see it again...
I saw Errand of Angels a couple of days ago. It was really sweet and reminded me of Missy. It's like The Best Two Years except with sister missionaries. And not as funny. But still good.
It's nice to have something uplifting in the theaters.
