Sarah's LAST Email---January 17th 2012

Only 8 more days!!!!!

Dear Family,

Okay, this is it....THE LAST E-MAIL!!! dun dun duuuuuunnn!!!

I can'twait to see you all again! I keep thinking about what I am going to
wear when you see me for the first time, and I realized how raggy all
of my clothes are! It's a good thing I didn't give all my clothes to
my sisters or anything......wait.

I have not as yet started packing, but the idea is tickling my mind. I
am not trunky, but it has been really hard with one trunky companion
and one who has a hourly countdown to when she can get rid of us. (not
bitter). In the middle of personal study she will look up at me and
say "You only have 264 hours left...how do you feel?" and "In two
weeks you'll have no purpose to your life...wow...sucks to be you."
etc.

I'm just kidding. we love each other...
.
I am super excited to see you all though! I wish you could come out
here and visit New England. Although, I don't know if you would want
it right now. Come in Spring or Fall. That is when it is at it's best.
I know you would all love it!

The work has been going great!!! Dorothy Anderson got baptized last
Saturday! It was awesome. The water was almost too low so she had to
be dunked twice. But she was a good sport about it. And Alice Lee is
getting baptized this Saturday!

Heavenly Father blesses me so much! I couldn't ask for a better way to end my mission.
I love the people out here, and we see a lot of miracles. This mission is and has been the
best thing for me! I have felt my love for my Savior grow and deepen
so much and I have gained a testimony of this church and the
principals in it. Thank you all so much for supporting me in this. I
will forever be grateful.

This is the last e-mail I will be sending out. Next p-day is
completely booked, sadly, and there is a lot to do. Sister Allen will
be training and she wants to make sure everything is put in order. But
know that I love you all, and I will see you in 10 days.

I love you!
Finishing strong--

Sarah's January 9th email

Hello all!

Well, things are winding down here. Dorothy, our investigator, is
getting baptized this Saturday. I love her so stinkin much! She is
such a sweetheart. I am so glad that I'm going to get to see her
baptized. We gave up sweets to help her give up coffee and we've been
going strong for three weeks! I've been craving moosetracks ice cream
for ever, but it's all worth it. Our members have been trying to feed
us sweets anyway, but we have valiantly refused. Power of the spirit.

Oh yeah.

In other news, Today we visited one of Sister Allen's old investigators
who was in the area, who belongs to the mafia. It's very real out
here, but this is one of the only Mafia members I've met who LOOKS
like a mafia member. He even has the black Mercedes Benz. He was very
Italian and told us if we ever needed anything, just mention his name.
So now I have an "in" with the mafia! Pretty legit! I was speaking
like a twenties gangster the whole way home, it was awesome!

Sister Green, who is going home with me, has already started to pack.
Sister Allen has sworn to cut me if I start packing before the week of
transfers. So I won't.

Anyway, I have to get going! I don't have a lot of time today.
Love you all!
Sister Dixon

Sarah's January 5th email

Note: We were in Oregon when this email came through. So even though it's late, it means that we will be seeing TWO emails from Sarah this week. BONUS!!!

Happy 2012!

What a great new year! I think this one will be the best.
It has already started off good. Dorothy and her son, Jake are getting
baptized soon, and then Alice and her son, Matt are getting baptized
the week after! Heavenly Father has been blessing me by the
bucketload! It will be epic.

I celebrated the New Year by eating cheese and crackers, drinking
sparkling cider, and going to bed at 9:30. I lead an exciting life. I
tried to stay out until midnight (or 11:00 at least) but I fell asleep
while we were planning, so I thought it might not be the best plan.

Last week, we taught Dorothy the Word of Wisdom and in a effort to
help her quit coffee, we all agreed to give up sweets until April.
O__O I even signed a paper. It hasn't been so bad, the worst part has
been that we go over to members homes and they forget and have made
some decadent homemade goodie that we have to turn down. So It has
been quite the challenge. Although It makes it easier knowing I am
doing it for a cause. Dorothy hasn't been drinking coffee and she is
on track to getting baptized :)

Not much else has been happening. It was cool to hear that Elder Godoy
came to Christians homecoming. I guess I should start compiling my
homecoming talk, although I won't have a member of the seventy there,
so it doesn't have to be too fancy :)

I love you all! Thank you for your prayers, I need them!
Church is true!!!!!
Love,
Sister Dixon

Portland!

Missy is excited to start school and is all settled into her new apartment. Dad and I had a chance to do some sight seeing. It was rainy, foggy and cold most of the time, as you can see from the pictures. the Portland Temple is beautiful inside and out. Missy was taking the picture here...ask her for a pic that has her in it.

We did fun things like drive an historic highway that had moss and fern covered trees lining both sides. There were beautiful waterfalls and yummy fudge. We visited a lighthouse on the Pacific coast (very very cold and foggy) and went to the Tillamook Cheese factory. We saw them make cheese, bought some cheese for the fam, and had lots o fun.

The roads in Portland are very narrow and chaotic, and we had fun getting lost. Thank goodness for GPS!

For some reason the trip home took twice as long as the trip there. We ate at Chili's in Boise on the way home. Thanks for the gift card!
