It was nice this year not to have to go to SLC for the 24th. That one is more like running a marathon while carrying something heavy. Ogden was 11 little blocks. See if you can spot me; I'm the one wearing camouflage.

Missy's email July 28th
Hey Y'all!
This week has been a walking week! And it's been very very humid. This is a big area with not enough miles. The bus helps a little, but it doesn't go to very many places, so I am very sore and tired this morning.
There has been some good perks to the week though. Jim, the investigator who let us use his GPS, has come a long way. When we first met him I didn't think he would go anywhere. He was constantly drinking beer and smoking and wouldn't quit because he said it was good for him. He challenged everything we believed and felt like he wasn't doing anything wrong. Basically, he was in denial. Now, he is really wanting to change his life around. He called us up to tell us that he is going to stop drinking and smoking and get his life in order. He also dumped his girlfriend, who was very anti against the church. I am amazed at how much he has turned around. It's those things that makes being a missionary great.
That was the highlight for the week. We are going to be walking even more this week. At least until Friday. My comp says that it's like this every month. The next time I see president I am going to get on my hands and knees and beg him for more miles. We really need it. Especially for this next month, it is sooo hot in August.
Well, I love y'all!

The Cat Came Back!
Usually Canadian cartoons are really weird because since the government gives out animation grants, they tend to be experimental. This cartoon got a grant because it was promoting an old Canadian song, "The Cat Came Back." Unlike most cartoons with grants though, this one shocked the Canadian government by actually making money! Watch it and you'll see why. It's crazy!

Hey howdy hey!!!
This week has been pretty slow. Nobody has wanted to open their doors for us. It doesn't help much that summer in a college town is usually a little slower. That's OK though, we had a baptism! A guy named Nick got baptized and he is pretty cool. The only sad thing is that he is moving this week. Oh well, that's life.
We are teaching some other cool people. We are still teaching the Brazilian. He is doing well. It is taking him a little longer to understand the B of M. We did give him a Portuguese B of M, but he wants to improve his English and so he reads the English one. We also have this other investigator who is letting us use his GPS (cameras, gps, and cell phones are the only electronic devices we are allowed to use in this mission). We really don't need it too much because our maps do a pretty good job, but we have fun with it. It is one of those ones that talk to you and tell you when to turn and all that fun stuff. We have named it Jimbo, because our investigator's name is Jim. Jimbo is lots of fun. We have been playing around with it a lot.
Well, I hope it's not too hot over there. It is really sticky, humid, and gross here. I'm not a fan. Oh well, it will only be like this for another couple months.
I love ya'll!

Missy's email for weel of July 14th
Hey Y'all!
Well, I really really like my new area. It is a fun college town. It is really weird to be talking and teaching people that are my own age. It's very different from any of my other areas. There are definite perks to a college town. First of all we get to ride the CAT bus, which is free for anyone. SC doesn't have a public transportation system, so riding on a free bus where ever you go is lots of fun and saves a lot of miles and gas for our car. It's pretty much my favorite.
Clemson colors are orange and purple and so everything is bright orange. Even grocery stores and stuff. It's kinda funny. Orange isn't really my favorite, but I like purple all right.
We are teaching some cool people here too. There is a college student who is getting baptized on Wednesday. I don't really know him too well yet. We are also teaching a Brazilian. He is a student here and he is the funniest person ever. He seems really interested the in the gospel, but he has only been in America for a few months and still trying to get used to the culture and the whole "southern" thing. He speaks English pretty well, but we still have to explain things a few times before he understands. He is just way cool.
There are a lot of people from different nationalities. Especially from China and India. It is really different for me to teach someone without a Christian background. I haven't had to do that up until now. I hashed it the first time, but now I am learning how to do it.
It's a good area and I really like it. I hope they keep me here for a long time. They tend to move me a lot. I think I have been in more areas then any other sister. It's been fun, but I just want to stay here now.

Any other significant dates that should be remembered?
Ok, now that we have the Calendar up and everyone's birthdays are on it, are there any other annual dates that we need to have on there? (Anniversaries, etc.) Also, I think it would be nice to have stuff like recital dates and dates that plays are running on the calendar as well. Are there any coming up in the future, or happening right now, that I can post to the calendar?

Missy's June 7th Email
Dear Family,
Well, transfer time is here again and the new mission president threw me for a loop. I natrally assumed that they were going to send me back to Marian. Nope. I am now going to Clemson. It is a big university town on the very west part of the state. I guess Clemson University is a big college. I never heard of it until I came to SC. It will be different talking to college kids from all over instead of normal southerners. My companion will be Sister Israelson. I have met her a couple times and she seems way nice. She is from Chicago. That's all I know about her.
We got to meet President McConkie this week! He is way cool. He seems to be strict like Pres. Brailsford, but in a different way. I'm not sure how to describe it. He is very smart and knows a lot (he probably gets it from his dad!). I like him. It will be good.
So, our Fourth of July was pretty uneventful. We had a big rainstorm that evening and so I think it ruined some peoples parties. The firework law around here are pretty lax and they sell all the big fireworks and so there has been bangs and whistles all week long. We had to stay in that evening and so we just sat around and talked and ate enchiladas and brownies. It was fun.
Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful week. Don't fry over there in Utah!
Love ya more then Bunnies!

New Calendar
We've added a calendar to the Blog. I am managing the calendar, so if you want anything added, just let me know. a few things to keep in mind about the calendar, even though the Dixon Blog is private and not searchable by the internet in general, the calendar IS searchable by the internet in general, so please minimize the private information you want on there.
Also, the calendar is a little buggy and it is diffiult to see in the narrow sidebar. If you want a better view of the calendar, right click on the calendar, select 'This Frame -> Open Frame in New Window' This will open up a fresh window with the full calendar on it.
I have already put everyone's birthday in to the calendar. If there are any other events you want added, please let me know.
Peter
Edit: The 'open frame in new window' only works in the firefox browser. I haven't figured out how to get it to work in the Internet Explorer browser. Suggestions anyone? You can still print out the calendar in any browser by hitting the printer icon on the calendar. You can also add all of the dates on this calendar to your own google calendar by hitting the Google Calendar button at the bottom of the calendar.

Baby Birds
Our baby birds have grown up and flown away. It was fun while they were here; now we're left with a poopy nest.
